In the 27th chapter of Mathew , beginning in verse 50,we read where our Lord Jesus cried out ( It is finished , John 19:30 , Father into Thy hands I commend My Spirit, Luke 23:46 ). Jesus gave up the Ghost . The veil of the temple was rent in twain from top to bottom signifying the death of the Son of man , the Son of God , signifying the work that only God could do.That work was from God in glory sent down to men.

And the graves were opened; and many bodies of the saints which slept arose, and came out of the graves after His resurrection, and went into the holy city , and appeared unto many .

The graves of many of the Lords people were opened . this was not the resurrection , but a resurrection (as Lazarus in John 11 ) of the bodies of many of the Lords people .They were raised from the dead , by Christ work , as it pleased God. Scripture does not say whether God took them home to glory , as he did Enoch , and Elijah , or whether they died ( the body ) again . Scripture says they came out of the graves , so we know that they did .Scripture does not say who they are and it does not matter, the fact is they were raised up by the power of God , in the work of Christ , Giving us assurance of the power of His resurrection . This text is true and stands alone, but it gives us knowledge through faith in Christ of the continuing work of the Holy Spirit ( as Jesus work was finished , and He ascended back to God and is now seated at His right hand ) .

The text manifest the power of God in raising Jesus body from the grave after He died for the sin of His people . His Spirit did not , nor can not die , upon the death of the body the spirit of man either goes to glory with God or to hell awaiting the resurrection of the body which will join it being one again .

God opened the graves , God brought them forth , God gave them life , to whom it pleased Him , and to no one else .The text teaches the power of God to quicken his people , to take them from the death of sin and cause them to be born again to life , we have no choice in being born to our natural parents , we have no choice in being born to God . It is the gift of God unto eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord . They were raised up , they went into the holy city and appeared unto many , the power of God was manifested , the love of God was manifested , God was glorified . God has given us life . we are to come into the holy city , New Jerusalem, the church, and present ourselves to the saints . we are to live the life God gives us giving all glory and honor unto our Lord Jesus who died for our sin and was resurrected for our justification . The good Lord bless you all is my prayer .

Please pray for me,
