I found this quote very interesting. I stumbled upon it while reading the newly released 2nd Edition of Be Ready To Answer by Elder Michael Gowens. See if the words trouble you as they should.

Troubling indeed. This is the primary reason our family chooses to home school and also the primary reason home schooling is so fervently opposed by the far left in America.

No Pleasure in Wickedness

For thou art not a God that hath pleasure in wickedness: neither shall evil dwell with thee. - Psalms 5:4

My counsel shall stand, and I will do all my pleasure... - Isaiah 46:1

For it is God which worketh in you both to will and to do of his good pleasure. - Philippians 2:13

Observe, God has no pleasure in wickedness, period. This includes your own personal sinfulness and the sinful actions of others.

Concerning the actions of God, He will do all His Will according to His good pleasure, but at no time is He pleased with wickedness. This means that God is never the cause of sin, ever.

In consideration of our daily activities and behavior, since God works in us to do His good pleasure, this CANNOT include sin because God has no pleasure with sin. The sinful actions we do are from the nature of the flesh, a product of the sin of Adam.

Again, God has no pleasure in wickedness, period.

My Soul Thirsteth

This evening I would like to share with you the 42 Psalm. No extra commentary is needed for this beautiful out pouring of the soul.

Psalms 42
1 To the chief Musician, Maschil, for the sons of Korah. As the hart panteth after the water brooks, so panteth my soul after thee, O God.
2 My soul thirsteth for God, for the living God: when shall I come and appear before God?
3 My tears have been my meat day and night, while they continually say unto me, Where is thy God?

Sin Against The Holy Ghost

November 28, 1905

Brother C. H. Nicholas, of Arkansas, has requested us to give our views on ``sinning against the Holy Ghost." A great deal has been written on this subject. Our father, Elder S. F. Cayce, wrote some editorials on the subject, which appeared in our columns some time ago, and so we do not feel like writing much now on that line. We know, too, that there is some difference of opinion among the brethren as to who it is that sins against the Holy Ghost. Some brethren have argued that the child of God is in possession of the Holy Spirit, and that, therefore, the child of God, only, can sin against the Holy Ghost; that the unregenerate (or those who are finally lost) are not in possession of the Holy Spirit, and therefore cannot sin against the Holy Ghost. We do not think this position is correct. We might give more than one reason why we do not think so. We do not think it is correct because all the sins of all God's people were laid on Christ, and He bore their sins in His own body on the tree and put them away by the sacrifice of Himself. See Isa 53; 1Pe 2:24, and Heb 9:26. Hence every sin they commit was laid on Christ, and He bore every one of them; so their sins are all against the Son, or the second person in the Trinity, and shall all be forgiven, on account of what He has done for them.

Most Surely Believed: The Godhead

  • Reminder that articles of faith and confessions are not cannon.

  • Article 1. We believe in one true and living God, the Father, Son and Holy Ghost, and these three are one.

Waldensian 1120 2. We believe that there is one God - the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.

Midland Confession 1st. We believe and profess, that there is only one true God, who is our God, who is eternal, almighty, unchangeable, infinite, and incomprehensible; who is a Spirit, having His being in Himself, and giveth being to all creatures; He doth what He will, in heaven and earth; working all things according to the counsel of His own will.

2nd. That this infinite Being is set forth to be the Father, the Word, and the Holy Spirit; and these three agree in one.

London Confession 1689 01.02 Chapter 2 Of God and of the Holy Trinity 3. In this divine and infinite Being there are three subsistences, the Father, the Word or Son, and Holy Spirit, (27) of one substance, power, and eternity, each having the whole divine essence, yet the essence undivided,(28) the Father is of none, neither begotten nor proceeding; the Son is eternally begotten of the Father;(29) the Holy Spirit proceeding from the Father and the Son;(30) all infinite, without beginning, therefore but one God, who is not to be divided in nature and being, but distinguished by several peculiar relative properties and personal relations; which doctrine of the Trinity is the foundation of all our communion with God, and comfortable dependence upon Him.

Tearing Down and Building Up

Today in my personal studies, I came across Jeremiah chapter 1, verse 10. This verse describes the prophet Jeremiah as being one who would tear down and then build back. I find this to be an interesting analogy of the work of the ministry, both in the Old Testament and the New Testament. This is actually one principle my father in the ministry taught me when I first began exercising my gift in a public way. Tear down (dismantle) the error and build the truth where it once stood!

Think about it this way. A man cannot be both sober and a drunkard. A woman cannot be both submissive and rebellious to her husband at the same time. A person cannot be both proud and humble at the same time. In an even more important arena of life, one cannot believe both salvation by works and salvation by grace, for it must be by one or the other.

This concept of "tearing down and building up" is demonstrated over and over in the scriptures. Notice this example:

Forasmuch as ye know that ye were not redeemed with corruptible things, as silver and gold, from your vain conversation received by tradition from your fathers... 1 Peter 1:18

Peter first tears down (dismantles) an erroneous viewpoint and then builds up the truth in it's place.

This was also the case in Acts chapter 2, when Peter instructs a group of devout men out of every nation under heaven to "repent and be baptized every one of you..." While these were good men, truly devout, they were worshiping after the manner of the Old Covenant, a covenant that God replaced when He redeemed us by the blood of Jesus Christ. So, repentance was in order! In essence, they "tore down" their old viewpoint and "built up" a new viewpoint, a commitment to Jesus Christ in His Church. This, dear one, is called repentance! Tearing down and then building up.

Consider this to be a model for repentance in your personal life. Whatever the sin that plagues you, to repent of such requires you to tear that down, remove it from your life through the power of the Blood of Christ, and build up righteousness in it's place.

Do Immigration Laws Violate the Bible?

Here is the answer to a question I received via facebook. It concerns recent laws passed by the State of Alabama granting Police a greater power to investigate a person's status and enforce immigration laws. While this is a civil matter, I feel the question is very appropriate. Do these laws violate God's word? Good question...my answer is below.


[Please do not interpret this as our website entering into the public debate of political matters. We are not considering the specifics of a government's policy, but whether or not such a concept is in violation of God's Word.]


Question: There are Ministers [who] say that this new immigration law that just went into affect goes against the Bible. I'm just not sure how it's wrong??


Answer: It's important to separate a government's responsibilities from an individual's responsibilities. God did this in His book many times. For example, we are commanded as individuals not to kill, yet God instructed His physical nation, Israel, to execute men for a variety of crimes. Apply this concept of separating between "individual and government" to the illegal immigration situation.

We, as believers, are commanded to be charitable and kind to others, to turn the other cheek, to suffer persecution, etc. We are also commanded on a personal level to be hospitable and welcoming to strangers. (Hebrews says some have thereby entertained angels unaware).

Yet, Romans 13 says Civil Government is an institution created by God for the purpose of keeping rule and order. Because of this, we are to keep the law of the land, provided it does not violate God's law. Actually, this text goes as far as to say that God made government to be a "terror to evil." In the Old Testament, God allowed and even commanded Israel to enforce their borders, so it is not contrary to God's will for any other country to do the same.

Since immigration laws are within reason and not contrary to God's Word (there is no mandate condemning such), and they are already in effect, I would say that the enforcing of such is fine and in no way contradictory of the Bible. This is merely the government exercising their authority as God has given them.

Two Distinctive Concepts

Every group within Christianity has certain distinctive concepts. By distinctive concept, I mean a concept or belief common only to that particular religious order. These distinct ideas are what makes a group stand apart from other groups. Just like blond hair causes a person to stand out in a crowd of brunettes, each groups' distinctive doctrines cause themselves to stand apart from other religious groups, for better or worse.
