This short account of the experience of Elder Samuel Wilson (Sammy) Etheredge was reported by his grandson, Elder Sam Etheredge from north Alabama.
Elder Samuel Wilson (Sammy) Etheredge was born July 20, 1895 in Marengo County, Alabama. On October 12, 1912 he married. It was during this period of his life that he became burdened with a deep sense of guilt as a poor ruined sinner before God together with a feeling that he must preach the unsearchable riches of Jesus Christ.
He rebelled--telling no one of his impressions. Not long after, he became so ill that he was unable to work. The doctor could find no reason for his illness. While in this condition he saw a vision of a casket and a pulpit. He heard a voice saying unto him, "take your choice." He was ordained in 1921 and was faithful to his vow to follow the Lord until his death, which occurred February 11, 1985.
