|A Monday Morning Thought Over Coffee In The Wake Of Homosexual Marriage in Alabama|

I wrote the following as a "status" on my facebook page this morning, so it isn't intended to be an essay. At any rate, perhaps this will supply a little food for thought and tug us back to a scriptural perspective.
The Christian changes culture, not through protest or activism, but through conversion. Our charge is to teach those born of God the work and will of Christ for God's glory and their personal, individual deliverance from bondage, regardless of culture. As a side effect, the world around us is turned upside down. So you could say, the Christian changes the culture while not even directly seeking to impact it!
Jesus answered, My kingdom is not of this world: if my kingdom were of this world, then would my servants fight, that I should not be delivered to the Jews: but now is my kingdom not from hence. John 18:36
For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war after the flesh: (For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strong holds;)... 2 Corinthians 10:3-4
I submit that obsessing over the culture is a clever sidetrack of Satan, to draw us away from our task of teaching, baptizing, and teaching.
Food for thought: How many sermons did Paul preach on the actions of the Roman senate? Tax rate? Immigration policy? Sword control? Health insurance? Scripture, please! To answer my question: Paul preached ZERO sermons on those topics.
He belonged to another country. Sure, he condemned the abominable acts of the Pagans around him and called on them to repent. As should we. But political reform was never an agenda and he seems to care very little about the agenda of the Roman government.
His admonition concerning them? Pray for the government so we can live a quiet, peaceful life. In other words, just leave us be to teach people, one on one, and fulfill the ministry Christ has given us.
And while I'm on the subject -
I affirm that MARRIAGE is for ONE MAN and ONE WOMAN for ONE LIFE TIME and any - ANY - deviation from this pattern is to corrupt what the True and Living God created. Sexuality is to be enjoyed within the confinement of MARRIAGE as defined above.
Jews corrupted this by taking multiple wives and treating them like cattle. Pagans corrupted this by allowing incest, male and female prostitution, pederasty (look it up), and the abuse of young teenagers (sometimes as forced temple prostitutes), all which the Bible condemns. It was evil and abomination.
In our land, there is no limit to the corruption of this institution: Fornication, marital infidelity, homosexuality, and the redefining of marriage. Now that homosexual marriage is becoming accepted, just watch as the push for polygamy and pedophilia begins.
Do you scoff? Laugh? Mock? Belittle? Be not wise in your own eyes. This is the testimony of the Most High. Let it be so - Amen.
Here's a glorious truth for those struggling with this sin and others: Christ gives strength to His children to mortify ANY of the lusts of the flesh. As Paul said, "and such were some of you, but ye are washed..." 1 Corinthians 6:11 There is strength to be found regardless of your struggle! Christ gives healing and is full of grace!
Proclaim the truth. Leave the squabbling to the worldlings.
