If you are not aware, there was a super typhoon which reaped destruction throughout the islands of the Philippines this week. There have been reports of thousands of floating bodies in the aftermath of these storms. God has many children in this land. Among them, are some who worship as we do. Regardless, pray for His mercy on this afflicted people and consider donating to recovery causes from such organizations who provide relief. - Editor
UPDATES FROM THE PHILIPPINES by Dan Delmo
I am writing this for the sake of our American PB brethren, as well as for those PBs all over the world, who have expressed their concern over our condition after the super typhoon. PBs are scattered all over the country, but the typhoon hit the strongest in the central part. We are located hundreds of kilometers from that area. Our region has already been declared under the state of calamity. The city where we live has not really suffered major casualties; however, in remote areas like the outskirts and smaller islands, the destruction was unimaginable. The reports about floating corpses in the water are true.
There are a few PBs in that area, but we have not received any updates from them up to this moment since the telecommunication system and electricity are down and might take weeks or a month to be restored. We are happy about how our local goverment has responded to the situation, especially in the distribution of provision among the worst hit areas.
On a personal note, what CNN had to say about Filipinos was really encouraging, but the prayers offered to God by our PB brethren on your side of the planet for us are much more heartwarming, encouraging, and edifying.
The mighty hand of the Lord was upon us during the storm. He, indeed, is our refuge and present help!
I'll do my best to keep you all posted. May God bless us all.
