The wicked shall be turned into hell, and all the nations that forget God. Psalm 9:17
The open flaunting of sin and rebellion. The murder of unborn children. A sidetracked, pleasure pursuing Christianity. The fundamental breakdown of the family (divorce, abandoned roles, adultery, etc). Restricted liberty. False doctrine abounding. Division. America is in trouble.
While Israel (in the Old Testament period) was the only God endorsed theocracy, all nations and all men are accountable to God, who ruleth over the nations (Psa 66:7). God isn't interested in the Church governing the nation and enforcing religion. Those are spiritual matters. Yet, all nations are accountable to God in a MORAL SENSE. Even the ruler of each nation is His minister and held accountable. Whether you believe or not, God holds you accountable.
Our nation stands in need of repentance. Just as hell awaits the wicked, our land could be turned into a hell on earth, should she continue along this path. God is very longsuffering, but His longsuffering does have an end.
I suggest a starting point and this is addressed to believers. Be salt. You are the salt of the earth. Let us LIVE what we profess to BELIEVE. Rather than political lobbying, seek God in sack cloth and ashes. Not for political reform (for the service of Christ is not a political tool), but in humble submission to your Creator and Saviour. Be real, for there is nothing quite as ineffective as one sinner clinging to a basket of idols yelling for another sinner to repent.
Paul "turned the world upside down" through preaching. While at no point did he seek to reform Rome or to establish a theocracy, he affected the cities of his day with true power, the gospel of Christ. As they shined as lights in the midst of a crooked and perverse generation, so can we today.
