Below is part of an email response I wrote to a man curious about the Church.

I would encourage you to consider the doctrines of Grace as believed by Primitive Baptists. We believe in Sovereign Grace, that God is sovereign in saving men. He chose us, we did not choose Him. These doctrines are generally broken down into the following:

Total Depravity - man is depraved from conception and is naturally dead in sins prior to the new birth. Because of this, he has no true interest in God nor does he have a desire to learn the gospel. Romans 3, Ephesians 2:1, Titus 3

Unconditional Election - God unconditionally elected, or chose, an innumerable host of people in Christ from before the foundation of the world to salvation. Romans 8:29-30, Ephesians 1:4, John 17:1-3, John 6:37

Particular Redemption - Christ came to save these chosen people, not all of mankind. Christ was totally successful in this. All for whom Christ died will be in Heaven, Christ was not a failure! He saved His people from their sins by shedding His blood on the Cross for them. Matthew 1:21, John 6:37

The Effectual Call - God, through the agency of the Holy Spirit, will give each elect person Spiritual life (the new birth, quickening, regeneration, etc) sometime between their conception and death. This is an act of giving life. Prior to the new birth, a person is dead in sins. After, he is alive in Christ. God works ALONE in this without preachers, teachers, evangelists, etc (like Saul of Tarsus on the road to Damascus). John 3:8, Romans 8:30, Titus 3, 2 Timothy 1:8-10, Acts 9, Hebrews 8

Preservation of the Saints - Those whom God chose, redeemed, and regenerated will be preserved in Christ despite any circumstance they face on earth, including their own sinful choices. Jude 1:1, 1 Thes 5:23, John 10:27-29, Romans 8:31-39, Phil 1:6

Also consider:

Discipleship - After God has saved us, we are exhorted to become disciples (students) and learn of Christ. Though we are already saved in an eternal sense, through repentance and study of the truth we can save ourselves from this untoward generation, heresy and spiritual bondage. Matthew 11:28, John 8:32, Acts 2:40

The Church - Christ's Church has existed since He established it during His personal ministry. She was never a part of Catholicism and therefore, was not a part of the group who left Catholicism to form Protestantism but has always been a 'free church.' Christ is her Head - there is no ecclesiastical authority on Earth greater than the Local Church. This Church has elders, preachers, called of God and ordained BY the church through the 'laying on of hands of the presbytery.' She has family integrated worship with no Sunday Schools or Youth Groups, since Christ placed none of those subgroups into His church. She also has acapella singing - there were no musical instruments in New Testament worship in the Bible. This Church has also always been a baptistic Church. Her ministry baptizes converts, believers, by fully immersing them in water. She has been called by many names throughout history (including but not limited to Christians, Waldenses, Anabaptists, Baptists, Particular Baptists, Primitive Baptists). Life in the Church is to experience the Kingdom of Heaven. Her gospel is the Gospel of Grace. To worship Christ with the Church is truly a remarkable blessing! Matthew 16:18, Ephesians 3:21, Colossians 1:18, Matthew 4:17, Acts 20:24, Ephesians 5:19, Jude 1:3
