A Note on Hugh Hefner's Passing Print

The irony of life. On one hand, my Facebook newsfeed was full of tributes to and news articles about Hugh Hefner. On the other hand, there were four different news stories from the various television stations I follow about child pornography arrests in Alabama. Don't think these two are unrelated.

Mr Hefner's magazine made pornography mainstream and accepted. Once mainstream, as sin always does, pornography degraded into more and more graphic forms of sensual media, including the exploitation of children. Today, indecent material is one of the most consumed types of content on the internet and is directly linked to human trafficking. Millions of young men have introduced this rotting cancer into their hearts, sometimes giving themselves over to a vice which will plague them until death. Marriages have been destroyed. Respect lost. Ministries ruined. Innocents abused. The Church handicapped. This is the legacy of Hugh Hefner. He helped open Pandora's Box.

As a son, husband, and father of two precious girls, I find this disgusting and infuriating. I lament that such a godless man was able to propagate such wickedness in society, an evil now so predominant that we will never fully heal from it. His life is one to be mourned, and not celebrated.

"Him (Jesus) God raised up the third day, and shewed him openly...And he commanded us to preach unto the people, and to testify that it is he which was ordained of God to be the Judge of quick and dead." - Acts 10:40&42
